Andrew Mlakar has been with Framework Personal Training here in Reno for a long time now, and when he’s not training clients and competing in Spartan races, he’s happy to answer your burning fitness questions. First up – what are the three biggest benefits to hiring a personal trainer? Andrew, take it away!
Ask Andrew: What are the 3 Biggest Benefits to Hiring a Personal Trainer?
There are so many amazing benefits to hiring a personal trainer, but here are the top three (and a bonus).
1. Goal Achievement: Trainers help define each client’s fitness/physique goals. We will break down the ultimate goal into smaller goals to achieve first, and these are little successes as we progress toward the ultimate goals.
Pro tip: If you’re forging on solo, it’s still important to set specific goals. Generalizations like, “I want to lose weight and get fit” aren’t measurable, so be clear about your goals. Write them down and use them as motivation to remember why you began.
2. Motivation and Inspiration: Trainers motivate and inspire clients throughout each workout, using words of encouragement, pointing out results and pushing clients to limits that they never ever thought they could achieve. The right trainer also makes sure that the clients know that whatever they put the mind to, they can make it happen through consistency of exercise and hard work.
3. Accountability: It’s easy to fall off the wagon when you’re training alone. It’s a lot harder to do that with a trainer, especially if you miss sessions or forget about them on a regular basis and you’re charged for them. You’re most likely to stick with it or push hard when you have a trainer that will keep you accountable every day through motivation, movement, aching muscles, killer burn and real results.
4. Bonus benefit! Personalized workouts with proper instruction: Trainers don’t ever want their clients to injure themselves. Showing them proper form for each exercise is crucial for benefits of the workout, both short and long term. Personalized workouts are catered to each individual since we are all different and have different goals and physical limitations.
