Three Ways to Manage Fitness Over the Holidays

It’s the final countdown to the highlight of the holidays – Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Between parties, last-minute shopping, cookie exchanges and budgeting, sticking to your fitness routine during this frenzied time of year can be close to impossible. But  it doesn’t have to be. Here are three ways to manage fitness over the holidays.

Plan, Plan, Plan

Take a few minutes to look at your calendar and fit in workouts for the last few weeks of December. By prioritizing fitness as you do appointments and other priorities, you’re more likely to stick to it.

And here’s a tip – try fitting in your workouts as early in the day as you can. Studies link willpower to time of day, and earlier is better. Plus, working out earlier can help minimize food cravings throughout the day.

Look for Promotions

Changing things up is a wonderful way to breathe new life into your fitness plan, and this is the time of year when gyms and studios offer great promotions. You may be able to check out a few facilities and classes at little to no cost, so if you’ve been debating a specialized class like spin or barre, or you want to check out the benefits of a personal trainer, this is the time to do it.

Find a Training Partner

A workout buddy may not have the knowledge and experience of a personal trainer, but you’ll benefit from the accountability the comes when someone else is expecting you to show up. Make a deal with a friend or a whole group of friends, and then follow through and get those workouts in.

If you’re really struggling, the pros at Framework Personal Training are here to help. Learn more about working with a certified personal trainer now.
