How to Commit to Your Health Resolutions in 2017

After a holiday season of too much food and not enough exercise, it’s little surprise that so many New Year’s resolutions involve a renewed focus on health and wellness. But motivation only gets us so far, and just three weeks into the new year, most people will have already given up on their goals. If you’re serious about committing to your health resolutions in 2017, here’s how to do it.

Hire a personal trainer. You’ll turn fitness into an investment and a habit, and you’ll benefit from your trainer’s experience and motivation.

You may think that spending money on a gym membership will motivate you in the same way. But no one is expecting you to show up at the gym. When you hire a personal trainer, you’re paying for accountability. And when you schedule workouts, the expectation is that you will show up. More times than not, you will, and that’s the foundation of positive fitness habits.

Showing up is important, but knowing what to do when you get there is critical. When you work with a trainer, you can avoid the trap of wandering aimlessly around the gym and resorting to the same handful of machines with which you’re familiar. Instead, there is a fitness plan that accounts for your current condition and your goals. All you need to do is follow instructions, and those goals will become a reality. Even better? With a trainer leading the way, you’ll reach your goals in the fastest, safest and most effective way possible.

Not all trainers are created equal, and it’s important to find someone you trust. But if your goals in 2017 include improved fitness and health, a personal trainer is the way to go. I welcome you to schedule a consultation to discuss your goals so that I can offer my advice for how to get there.

Happy New Year!
